MR.STUDIO specializes in working with a band or artist from the outset of a project to its completion. Once we have discussed the project in detail together, and have determined the best approach that will give you the project you want, we begin the recording process. This involves three (3) main stages, as outlined below.
1. TRACKING STAGE:
We begin
the recording process with tracking sessions on weekends. These sessions are for recording all of the song parts (i.e. drums, bass, guitars, vocals, alternate percussion, keyboards, etc.). The number of sessions that will be needed to properly track all these parts will be estimated and scheduled at the outset, during initial conversations. Usually between 2 to 5 songs can be completely tracked in one weekend "block," depending on how tight and ready you and/or your group are, and how many extra parts you want to record in overdubbing. Weekend blocks are made up of the following time frames:
| Friday night |
6:00 PM - 10:00 PM |
| Saturday |
10:00 AM - 8:00 PM |
| Sunday |
12:30 PM - 6:00 PM |
Scheduling full weekend blocks to track your parts is the most cost-effective, and is recommended if you want to record multiple songs. You can also schedule any combination of individual weekend nights/days, and sessions are priced based on each time frame, rather than on a package price for the full weekend block.
2. PRE-MIXING STAGE :
After the weekend recording sessions are completed, I start the mixing process on my own, where I begin by fine-tuning everything. That means I am working on stuff like EQ choices, Compressions, initial volume levels, editing out extraneous stuff (like guitar hum/static during silent parts, etc). That's included in what you pay for the tracking sessions, so essentially it's free. The reason I don't charge in a time-based way for this stage is because sometimes I really like to pick the sounds apart when I clean them up, and this can take more or less time depending on the project, so I just cover it as part of the paid tracking sessions from above.
3. PRODUCTION MIXING STAGE :
Once that sonic foundation is ready, it's time for the Production Mixing Stage. This is when we meet again, and you can join in on the process with any mixing and production ideas that you may envision for the recording (things like panning, effects, etc.). This stage is charged at a reduced hourly rate from what you pay for the Tracking sessions. It is a discounted rate, because this is the most enjoyable stage for me, and I figure, why not throw that enjoyment your way too (in the form of a reduced price)?
You can take your recording home at this point and really listen to it, and then feel free to return with any other suggestions or adjustments that you may want for a follow-up session.
